I've always wanted to illustrate a mexican sugar skull. I got the opportunity when I was asked the design this tattoo, this was just a sketch but it turned out lovely. I will finish the tattoo, but then a think i'll turn it into a full colour artwork for myself.

A friend very thoughtfully gave me a butterfly birthing kit and the caterpillars for my birthday little while back. I took some photos of the process of caterpillar to butterfly and a video of them emerging from the chrysalides. Take a look...

Our final show after university has been fantastic lots of promising contacts and positive feedback, we also meet some really interesting people during the show to chat which was nice, and I must say our stand among many others looked great...

Lucy and myself adding some hand drawn type (that took to long!) ...

After setting up the show on the first day we realized there was a whole extra wall that was ours too, which was a lovely surprise and we made the most of it by adding our favorite brief which was set by the Why Not Associates...

It's been a little while so here is what has been keeping me busy...

D&AD NEW BLOOD!! we have just shown at new blood 2010 which was great we got some really positive feedback and we also had the anticipation of our very own Lucy Player being nominated for her response to the Metro Brief, finally she got her result and was Commended by D&AD was WELL DONE!...

Our exhibition all finally set up opened on Wednesday 9th June, it was a great show the work spoke for itself and lots of interest was shown...

The show went so well we all went for a drink after to celebrate!

Now time for our exhibitions to take flight we firstly start with our internal show at South Essex College, we had to build the floors, walls and work out the layout of individual work and our group wall, which will display all we have done together as One&aDozen...

These lovely screen-printed envelopes :) contain a postcard for each group member of One&aDozen showing a piece of their work and also their contact details, these will be available for people who attend the exhibition to take with them...

The group wall finished!!.. we also added a monitor to show our website and blog which shows all the work we have been over the past year.

Another idea for the degree exhibitions... Sophie from our group has had this amazing '1' made from wood for us to display as part of our logo for the group, this should something different to the presentation of the shows...

Exhibitions are drawing near to showcase my final major project at university including an internal show, D&AD New Blood and also New designers, I will be showing along side our design group One&aDozen. Today myself and anna from the group started photocopying parts of our portfolios which we are proposing to set up as a collaborative wall piece at the exhibitions...

I will keep posting the development of this concept this it happens along side other preparation for our shows.

Hey I haven't been posting for a while as I have been very busy with my final major project for university. This project is about using mis-interpretation as a positive tool in design, the context of the designs have developed into taking a specific look into the irregularities of the English language, so here are some of the stages of development throughout the project...

Here is poem I wrote about Homophones (words that sound the same but are spelt different and mean different things).

Here I experimented with the photocopier to communicate the mergence of the two words through sound.

Here I tried the whole poem, but I then felt this wasn't showing a very good use of graphic communication, so this wasn't hitting the brief so I had a re-think and came up with an analysis of the language in a typographic format...

Further development...

This came from folded a print-out of my design, it created this tension on the page which was exactly what I wanted to achieve with the poster series so that the viewer would ask a question of the poster and find themselves discovering its unusual communication and in turn its meaning.

The final produced poster series will be screen printed :)

Forcing Chance/ The A4 Draw

Quick update, the forcing chance exhibition was a success, it looked fantastic and we got a fair bit of interest and some really nice feedback about our work, well done everyone!

Also the A4 draw was a great success sold lots of tickets!, thanks to those who got involved and congrats to the winners! enjoy.

The A4 Draw.

The A4 Draw aims to raise money for our graduate exhibitions (the South Essex College show, New Designers and D&AD New Blood). It also celebrates the work of those who inspire us.
This draw gives you the chance to win a piece of A4 work by established artists and designers, as well as us students from South Essex College.

Tickets can be bought for £4 from our Folksy shop, and winners will be drawn at random on 12th March, at the RK Burk Gallery. To see all work contributed to the A4 draw, visit our blog, they will also be shown at the Forcing Chance Exhibition. Contributors include Rob Ryan, Gemma Correll, Emma Dibben, Alice Tait and many more...!
